The Kundalika is located in the virgin forests below the Mulshi and Bhira Dams. Being 120 Kms from Mumbai and 100 Kms from Pune, this river is ideally located for short overnight or day trips. A one and a half hour run down a 13 Km exciting stretch with grade II and III rapids promises to give an exciting, wet and wild run to all rafters.
Our rafting trips start at 8 am. Since the water flow is controlled by the Bhira dam, we must start our rafting on schedule or face the possibility of trip cancellation due to lack of water flow. Please report at the start point at least 30 minutes before the start time.
You need not travel all the way to the Himalayan states to experience the thrill of the rapids. For Maharashtra's very own Kundalika river in Kolad provides the luxury of river rafting, just three hours away from Mumbai.
One of the state's heavy rainfall areas, the waters of Kundalika river flow fast and free during the monsoons. Rafting is carried on a safe 13 km stretch of the river, which has rapids ranging from Grade 2 to Grade 4. Fitted with a helmet, a life jacket and armed with a paddle you feel the rush of adrenalin once the rapids get going.
Kolad is a sleepy little village in the Mahad region that has earned the title of being one of the most sought after adventure destinations in Maharashtra for city dwellers. The monsoon brings out the best in Kolad with several waterfalls arising in the hills in this season.
Besides river rafting, the rugged topography of the place offers quite a few trekking trails. And then there's kayaking, rock climbing, rappelling and river crossing.
From Kolad, the drive by the coast on the Murud-Kashid-Alibaug stretch via Roha is one of the prettiest in the country. The road snakes through luxuriant paddy fields before running parallel to the coast right up to Alibaug.
